High School All-Star and Kentucky Freshman Ready for Next Step

Sheppard, a 6-foot-3, 187-pound guard, is considered a four-star recruit by ESPN and a McDonald's All-American. He was also named Gatorade Player of the Year in Kentucky in 2022.

Sheppard averaged 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for Kentucky in his freshman season. He started 14 of the Wildcats' 38 games and played a key role in their run to the SEC Tournament championship.

In a statement to ESPN, Sheppard said he is "all-in" on his NBA dream. He said he believes he is ready for the next level and is excited about the opportunity to play against the best players in the world.

Sheppard is the first Kentucky player to declare for the NBA draft since Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in 2018. He is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 draft.

The NBA draft is scheduled for June 20, 2024.
